OK - Ipod help (OS X if possible!)
Quite simple really - found myself in a fab position of getting an Ipod Touch.
I've already got an old Ipod 3rd gen.
Without going through the grief of Itunes, can anybody point me in the direction of a simple copying package to get my playlists (and music!) from the 3rd Gen to the Touch?
Ideally a drag and drop would be cool.
I've got Ipod acess, but that only shows all the songs, not necessarily the playlists.....
Or do I have to bite the bullet and go through my library????
Thanks in advance
Dan

There are a few apps that might help you here:
TouchCopy
Senuti
Podworks
I've only used Podworks, but it certainly copies music from the iPod to your computer without the need for iTunes. From the look of things it'll also allow you to copy complete playlists across.
If you're on OS X, what's the problem using iTunes? is it simply that you don't have the music on your machine, thus you cannot copy from iPod to iPod?

You might also want to have a look at this AppleScript. Yes it will require you to use iTunes, but it might help. It's worth looking at some of the other scripts there to see if they are of use either.
** edit **
This might be a better one. Again it requires iTunes, but will replicate a playlist that is on the iPod in iTunes. You will also need the music in iTunes, but getting it there should not be too hard, either use some of the apps mentioned above, or, we can be sneaky and use terminal to copy over the Music folder within the hidden iPod_Control folder (Yes the names of the folders and tracks in the Finder will be nonsense, but the ID3 tags will have been preserved so you can use the "Add to Library" command in iTunes to add the music back in and it will pickup the names, albums and such like). You can then plug in the Touch and copy the playlists and the music from iTunes onto the Touch.

Thanks Markus,
I've got all the music, but for some reason, when I first got my old ipod, I put all the albums into playlists.....
I want to resort back to a more conventional method!
Anyhoo - I *think* I've done it
Couldn't wait until next week - my old 3G's headphone socket was getting worse and worse!!
Gotta say though - the Touch is a fantastic bit of kit. The *only* annoying thing (and this will be my reason for not getting the iphone ) is the text input I've "woman's hands" (quote BlackAdder), and still managed to hit the wrong keys!!
For texting (ie sms), it would become a frisby very quickly!!

Well if you find you haven't got it sorted, let me know and I'll help you out
I've not tried text input on the Touch/iPhone yet, but your comment isn't the only one I've heard about this, not sure what, if anything they can do to improve it, but if there is something, let's hope we see that something has been done tomorrow.
