J,

I've setup loads of 3Com kit in the past, but it's over a year since I last looked at any.

Have a look at this doc for some info http://support.3com.com/infodeli/too...c/internat.htm

You need to have an unnumbered link since the ISP is allocating your public number. You also need NAT since you're using your own private numbering (10.10.10.0).

Have had some probs before when not using the standard 192.168.0.x (255.255.255.0) or 10.0.0.x (255.0.0.0) addressing schemes. Some of these SOHO routers like sticking to the norm, but there shouldn't be any reason for your IP scheme not working.

Does the unit connect OK? If so, then the dialup bit works.
Can you ping the DNS servers @ BT from the router? If so, then routing from the 3Com to the net works.
Can you ping the 3Com from the LAN?
Can you ping the DNS servers from the LAN? If not, then routing through the 3Com ain't working so check your default gateway (PC's) and make sure NAT is enabled

Hope that helps a bit,

Stefan
P.S. Grandmother, eggs and suck come to mind if you already know this

Hi guys..

Anyone ever setup one of the 3COM OfficeConnect 531 bridge/router/ISDN devices ?

I'm trying to use it as an ISDN router for a small LAN. I can get it to bring up the line ok, I can ping the device, but I cant seem to get routing to work over it.

No traffic is sent down the ISDN line.

Local LAN is 10.10.10.0 255.255.255.0 ISDN IP is auto allocated by dialup ISDN (Btinternet). Using PPP.

default route is set (0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 to use the btinternet dialup interface on the router)

J.

ChrisB might be able to advise you a bit on that, as i think he runs one of these at home?

I'm assuming that you have set all the normal stuff like defaul g/w etc on the client PC's?
