Default Wife's Dell Laptop

Tonight my wife 5 month old Dell Laptop has started to do funny things when viewing photos. On skin tones its making them look like they are under a UV light.... Its like a shadowing but with an electric blue tint.

Seems to only be on the sink of the people in the pictures ??

Anyone help ??

Cheers

Try this, hold down the Function key (or "F") and hit the up arrow key or go into the BIOS and change the battery meter setting (press the esc key on the splash screen)

Is this normal or would the machine need to be sent back ??

will try this when I get home tonight. But the machine has never done it before, its now fully charged so will check what its like today.

The laptop was running low of battery last night, so maybe this is what caused it ......

Its not normal no.. It could as simple as the battery doesn't hold enough charge.

The best thing to do would be gather as many facts as you can and then call Dell support.. ie.
  • It only does this when on battery - which rules out a screen problem.
  • You've tried charging the battery for 24 hours, letting it run down and then charging it again and it still does it.
  • You've changed the power setting to use high performance setting and it still does it !
I would think they would take it back for testing and probably replace the battery ...

Trust me as previous phone technical support they don't want to be spending hours troubleshooting, they really just want to replace it !! only they have to be sure !!

When people used to phone me up and list all the things that I would suggest it was a great relief as I could order a replacement and thats that : )
