Displaying Pc on LCD TV
Morning all;
I have my old pc hooked up through a hdmi / dvi wire to my new tv.
The picture on my tv for sky etc is perfect but from the pc its a bit dark and the colours are off. I have tried playing with the contrast and colour settings on the pc but it doesnt seem to help much, no where near as clear as the old monitor.
I have a new pc coming with a new decent graphics card, rather than the 7 year old one in the old pc.
So the question is, will I be able to get a picture on the tv as good as it was on a bonafide computer monitor, or is it just not possible?
Thanks
Fitz

its something to do with the black levels, tvs have a different scale
the xbox 360 when hooked up to a pc input/tv has a seperate menu for the black setting (IRE or something like that)

I output the picture from my PC to my HD projector and it looks great. Was playing Bioshock at Christmas with this combo.
So you have a 7 year graphics card in the PC ? I'm guessing that won't have a DVI output?
Are you using some kind of VGA > DVI adapter ? That could be the source of the issue. As you say a new video card with DVI socket could be the answer.

Hopefully the new graphics card will sort this out.
Thanks for the replies.
