How is taking a perfectly good colour photo and overlaying it with a load of numbers cool?

Pile of bollocks more like.

...for those of us old enough to remember line-printers, this was the only way to get pictures out of computers (unless you had a very expensive pen plotter).

But in our day, different characters were used (not just "0" and "1") to show the varying levels of darkness.

You could even use ASR33s for output!!!
