Default New Dell Laptop - disable stupid MediaDirect button?

Dell in their infinite wisdom have fitted a button on the laptop keyboard, RIGHT NEXT TO THE POWER BUTTON, which when pressed (laptop can be switched off yet still respond), boots an alternative partition on the drive.

We took Vista Home off and replaced it with WinXP Pro Sp2, and now whenever the user accidentally presses the button it tries to boot a non-existant partition and gets stuck in a cycle.

1. How do you get it out of this cycle of switch the laptop on and getting it to boot the normal partition ?

2. Does anyone know how to disable the MediaDirect button ?

I've had a very quick google and there doesn't seem to be a way to disable the button. What I did find was a possible way to fix the problem you are seeing, have a read of this

cheers Markus - it's a pity the damn thing can't be disabled. Looks like I'll have to go through the motions and recreate the partition so if the button is accidentally pressed it can find the data it's looking for.

The media direct stuff is a pain in the ****. It sits on a small FAT partition from what I remember.
