Games whether it be pc or console (disc based or cartridge based) are always ripped and released on to the net as soon as somebody breaks the various protections, they release them for research purposes, it doesn't necessarily mean that the consoles can play the copies yet.

Blu-ray Disc. someone taking an image of the game disc, which you then download and use something like Nero or PowerISO to replicate the disc - of course it would need a recordable BD drive.

It cannot be done yet, as far as I know. Although there is a "Hello World" story here :PS3 Hacks - Hacks, Cracks, Mods, Homebrew, Utilities. Hack Sony Play Station Portable
Hello world tends to mean someone has found a potential crack in the system but its not fully functional yet.

Surprisngly there isn't a way to play 'backups' on the PS3. I'm not sure why that is, I can't believe that the security / encryption is so good. I can only assume that not enough people had a PS3 originally so there wasn't a concerted effort to crack.
You can download copies of the Blu-Ray disc, but as mentioned above you can't actually do anything with them.

10 Blu Rays 130 quid LOL, like the old days of CDR with my 1 speed burner.
No the PS3 aint chipped nor do i think it ever will be. Due to the fact the dloads are Huge.
There all on the net ripped etc, but none play.
In the old days 360 stuff etc was good to have but i see alot of people now buying games as the online play has started to come into effect more.
ok 360 games copies playu online, but as some of my m8s found the last wave of checks for Forza COD etc nailed a few and banned em.
Just buy em make u play the games then and not have a gazillion disks all obver the shop :P

You can get them from lots of places. I usually pay around £3-4 a disc for mine. I use them for copying footage from my HD camcorder, and the quality is fine. Surprisingly, Amazon can be quite a good (cheap) source...
