Windows Vista SP1
Anyone know when this is likely to be available via Windows Update?
I remember reading on here is was available to MSDN subscribers but not to normal users.
Will it be update Tuesday next week?

Thanks Sonic, just had a look at the MS Technet site but you need to be a Technet Plus subscriber to get SP1 and subs are £470 a year!!
Think i'll wait for the windows update. Handy stuff on that Technet site though including a white paper describing whats included in the SP1.
Thanks again

Hello
It is also on various torrent sites (make sure it is one that has successful comments or one you know).
Late March / early April is when it is supposed to come out.

As Steve has said
Make sure it is the 2nd release of SP1 and not the original (Jan/Feb IIRC) release as this was pulled by MS very quickly and a lot of sites have it still
If it was uploaded to a torrent site very recently, then it is more than likely a pukker one
I dont even know if MS had different build numbers or just used the same one

DIdnt realise they had released a patch for the Windows Update for SP1, I know they have for SP3 for XP, but that is still in RC at the moment
I almost got the SP1 version of the installer, but it was the original release that got pulled, I noticed a week or so after I downloaded Vista, that they then had the SP1 version available again
By which time I had finalised my Vista build and installed SP1 from the Technet site, and im not going through all that installing and setting up again

In Vista, click Start (or whatever the round button bottom left is called now!) then All Programs then scroll to find Windows Update.
Then click Check For Updates and follow the prompts.

It's not available on winupdate anymore? Well it isn't to me anyway :/ I think some of the drivers that SP1 is incompatible with determines whether you can get it or not. Realtek and onboard intel chipset drivers are incompatible?!? That will be a large chunk of PC's sidelined then, well done MS

Offered me the option of downloading those drivers off the MS website, dont have any comp issues though I dont use the onboard audio but I do use the Intel drivers (which I updated with Vista SP1 )

Have you checked the control panel and network center ?
Download the latest MSN Messenger if you havent already, and have you ran the troubleshooting assistant in MSN to see what error messages it gives you
YOu could always turn off your firewall (in Security Center in Control Panel) temporarly and see if things work then
But you really do need to look in the Network Center first like has already been mentioned several times in the other thread
