Default Will this on board laptop tv tuner work in the uk ?

I am looking at a US spec laptop at the min that has a built in tv tuner which is both analog and digital, the only snag is that analog says NTSC and digital says ATSC.

If you put in our feed over here will the on board tv tuner recognise this signal ?

Multimedia Functionality
TV Tuner Type Digital and analog TV
Analog TV System NTSC
Digital TV Reception ATSC

No - Because we use PAL50 and the states uses NTSC60 - You will probably end up with a black and white picture (PAL and NTSC are effectviely colour schemes and the number is the refresh rate)

However - check this out

So basically even though you can buy a US spec laptop a lot cheaper than the equivelant UK version its not really worth it as certain things won`t work over here like the built in tv tuner and also the keyboards are a different layout with no £ sign and @ being in a different place etc. I guess the warrenty part would be tricky as well.

Is it really a "Lot" cheaper? Once you add shipping, sales tax (the quoted price won't have that added) is it really that much cheaper?

As you say, the warranty will almost certainly be a complete waste of time.

Yup that's always a possibility - Sometimes you'll get away with it.
