Default Help with a new DVD writer drive

Hi, I have fitted a new writable DVD drive to my dell PC but now my PC will not recognise my new drive or old CD writer drive. Any ideas?? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Does it show up in the BIOS? Is it SATA or IDE? Are the jumper settings correct? Power cable fitted?

Yup check your jumpers on the back of the drive.

Don't rely on CSL (Cable Select) you'll best setting the jumper on the back to Master or Slave. Depending which cable connection you are using. I.e last connector =Master. Middle = slave.
