Here's one for all you PC support gurus out there...

I have a laptop (HP if that's important) and I am replacing the 6Gb drive with a 20Gb drive.

What's the best way of moving the contents of one drive to the other?

Thanks,

Alex

Save what you want to keep onto CDR, then start from scratch.
Much cleaner and neater way of doing stuff, if you can get away with it

I'd definitely use Ghost, but it depends what other resources you have available. You either need to have both drives installed in the laptop at the same time or be able to boot the laptop in DOS mode with a network connection. Depending on what network card you have this can be a pain. Alternatively you can use parallel or USB connection to another system if you have the correct cable.

I tend to use a desktop, install the original drive on the desktop and create an image with Ghost on your desktop drive, install the new drive and Ghost the image onto it. You will need a 2.5 to 3.5 adapter to do this though, can lend you one if necessary.
