Question ipod Shuffle not being detected

I need help from a techy

Recently my laptop has not been detecting my ipod shuffle, so cannot update it with new songs from itunes, where before I had no problem with it detecting it, it just stopped for some reason.

Can anyone tell me or help me, as to why this is happening?

Thank you!

Does it play music ok when not attached to the PC?

What exactly happens when you plug it into the computer? Any error messages?

What version of iTunes are you using?

Ok, first thing, get the latest iTunes from here. Install it, reboot, and then launch iTunes and then plug in the shuffle and see if it appears in iTunes.

I've done all that Markus and still nothing. I have tried the ipod on all the computers in the house and none of them detect the shuffle. I'm worried it may be broken

I bought my mum one of these for christmas and had the same problem but I found out how to fix it.
Have you got anything plugged into a usb port other than the Ipod? If you do plug in your ipod as normal and let it try to connect. Now unplug the other usb device. It should now be able to connect to your Ipod.
I did not believe this would work but it does...
