Tiscali stops all Sony PS3 owners playing Call of Duty 4 (COD4) Online
Its hard to know where to start with this issue, simply put Tiscali are stopping all Sony PS3 owners playing Call of Duty 4 Online at certain times (mostly the whole evening up to 12 midnight).
I first looked into this when I could not connect to games on my Playstation 3 and got “error 33” with Call of Duty 4, and also having many other connection problems in the game.
After a little research I found out I was not the only one with these problems and even more amazingly nearly everyone was a Tiscali or Pipex (owned by Tiscali) customer.

I thought AOL were bad for throttling download speeds glad i put off migrating too pipex like i was planning.

Dumb question: if I switch ISPs, does my phone line end up physically connected to different equipment at the exchange?
The reason I ask is that my connection drops out several times a day, which is really annoying, plus it frequently stalls for no apparent reason anyway. So, I've been thinking of changing my ISP (currently Nildram), but if it's a hardware issue then that won't make any difference.

Heard on the grapevine today the government are pressing all ISP's to ban p2p due to the nature of the material. Tiscali are saving £300k per month in bandwidth reduction.

A very foolish thing for the government to do. As witnessed by this COD issue, not all P2P traffic is because people are sharing copyrighted material. I'd be interested to see what Sony would say about this, as you'd essentially be killing off online gaming for certain games/consoles.

I cant believe the really want to stop online gaming as its such a massive market and the levels of traffic are minimal compared to content downloading. I would be gutted if my ISP stopped me playing my fave online game. Why cant they just stick to allowances - you exceed your package you get severely limited bandwidth for rest of the month.
