stop my dial up window coming up

Question stop my dial up window coming up

Hi

On XP pro BT broadband.

When my microsoft outlook sends/receives it brings up the dail up box (the one with the ISP and pasword) , same happens if i get a faulty or mistype a www. addy.

How do i disable this as it is irritating.

Go to Control Panel -> Internet Options -> Connections, then make sure Never dial a connection is selected if you are using broadband.

Just delete everything in the box at the top

Are you using a USB attached modem? I've seen people plagued with this problem when they don't have a router.

TBH, if you are using a USB modem upgrade to a router. The cost is less than £30 and you get very substantially improved security in the form of a hardware NAT firewall as a minimum.
