Default Be broadband setup? quick q's

Any of you have BE and use your own router as opposed to the BEbox

i made the call today to find out what info i need so i can set my own router up tommorow.

according to the guy i spoke to, the setup is as follows

Dns servers xx.xx.xx.xx.51 & xx.xx.xx.xx.52

VPI/VCI 0/101

connection type 1438 bridged

no logon details required

is this correct?

seems strange that there are no logon details

It doesn't require a logon as it is tied to the physical line.

Everything is good. The only other thing I had was the multiplexing method of LLC-BASED.

I'd recommend the BE box -

very stable and has a much better wireless range compared to my Netgear router... try yours and see...

dont forget they will be monitoring your line for approx 15 days on a new connectino to make sure you dont get any dropouts... after this initial 15 days you can ask to have it turned off...

all the best - welcome to BE

17mb Download and 1.9mb Up

Hi Steve,

i,m going to use my Belkin,

I tried the bebox earlier, coverage was the same as the belkin, but once again it wont talk to the xbox, and due to its odd architecture, i cant access the dam thing using its default ip address 192.168.1.254

the only way i can talk to it is to go via the wife lappy wirelessly

funny enough the belkin is the same, but i can and have reconfigured that to the default 192.168.0.1

Yep - I'm with Andy. The BeBox router has been fine - the wireless range is excellent. The only problem I had recently was solved by going to an external static IP address. Very consistent throughput figures - always up around 19 / 20 Meg download (helped by only being 1/2 mile form the exchange!). I have found them very hard to fault for any part of their service - a rare thing in the world of ISPs.
