True, but then the game is less complicated and isn't doing as much as Forza (which I suspect is some of the limitation on that game - all that physics / damage modeling comes at a cost).

Messiah, let us know what it's like. I must admit I'm tempted

Like I've said in many of the Forza threads - I'm perfectly happy without damage as I think its more trouble than its worth when playing online, all it does is creates arguments and it was poorly implemented in F2 IMHO.

Anyway, 16 players online and off in GT5P, 1080p and the AI has been reworked since GT4 which I know was one of your bugbears - the opponents now look to get a slipstream off you and outbrake you up the inside of corners so it sounds like Polyphony have certainly listened to the gripes that people had with previous games.

Read a number of reviews and its getting very highly praised in every department.

Considering you can get the disc version for a little over £20, its gotta be worth a punt.

oh and the new STI is one of the cars

If you register for a Japanese account on the PS3 you can download a GT5 playable demo which has one track on it and a selection of around 8 cars. Is this something different to what you are asking about messiah?

yesasia.com

use code SA5OFF to get $5 off and it works out around £21.50, free worldwide delivery too.

They've also got DualShock 3's.

The graphics are phenomenal, been playing the HD demo thats on the PS Store and it's stunning - the sounds effects are still ropey, even in Prologue, but I'm sure that'll be something Polyphony will work on.

FX02 - no mate, thats what I've already tried, the Eiger Nordwand track has 16 cars, well, 8 normal & 8 modified versions - its basically just a graphics showcase, Prologue includes the new opponent AI and 16 player races, sort of like License tests, as well as online racing and online Time Trialsthat change weekly. There's also extra events that are coming as DLC from Polyphony in the near future.

Mate of mine already has GT5 Prologue and in his own words "Makes Forza look and feel like Out-Run on Valium" and another mate who played the game in Japan on one of the big rigs at the Tokyo Gamesland said and i quote again "After playing this (GT5 Demo) i feel Forza is so last gen, like it is on the original Xbox", although he was ranting and raving about feel of the handling through the wheel, the fully functioning interiors and dash while stuffing it into the Armco on a very regular occurance and the amount of cars on screen at once going into turn one almost made him sex wee (again his words not mine) all over the place.

So looking forward to both this and the full game and as the old proverb goes, "All good things come to thse who wait"

I've ordered from yesasis before.

Did you order the Japan version or the asian version as there are two on the site?

Read on a few sites that Prologue is going to be Japan only, although Amazon are listing it as 30th March over here, then again, Amazon were listing listing Transformers on Blu-ray quite recently...HMV have Prologue listed at £40!!

If it was a definate release over here I'd have probably waited for that -Japan has had it since mid September.

Sure they said GT4 Prologue wasn't going to be coming here a couple of years ago but it did.

"Sony confirms a promising Q1/Q2 launch line-up.

The list from Sony US puts Gran Turismo 5 Prologue on track for a Q1 release in the States, while the silky-smooth WipEout HD is pencilled in for a more vague "early 08" release.

Sony UK, however, has told CVG that GT5 Prologue will also hit UK PS3s in Q1, while placing WipEout HD at a slightly more specific Q2 release."

GT5P is compatible with all the PS2 wheels and some later ones from Logitech.

Menu's are a mix of English & Japanese - but mostly the latter, especially for the car tuning stuff, but there's a full explanation of them all on AV Forums.

Don't forget blu ray and upscaled dvd's, plus web browsing from the telly. (believe it or not the latter has actually come in handy several times already!)

Got mine from ebay just after xmas. 1080p make the 2008 sti look good. The interior are fantastic as well. GTplanet.com has a good language guide to help set the contoller up if you want to use the trigger for accl and brake.

I hope it's a shed load better than GT4 because that was utter tosh. I really hope it delivers because it forces the Forza crew to pick it up to the next level.

And you also forgetting showing of your holiday pictures to the parents, on a big screen. So much better than trying to get the whole family looking at them on a 19" monitor in the box room. Get them in the lounge on the settee with a glass of wine in there, and a lot more civilised.
