Red face Help, I've had worms!

Hi folks,

A Week ago I realised my HD was constantly reading/writing, so I did a A.V. scan (Norton) AND a spy-ware scan (spybot S&D). Nothing. So I looked at my start-up list and found I had a blank entry, spybot said it was a zafi worm, I deleted it, and did another pair of scans. all clear. BUT my hard-drive now says it's it's nearly full. 1.9-1.2 Gig left of 20 Gig. and the damn things now so slow It's doing my head in.

Is the only cure a wipe/restart or is there another?

plus if i wipe is there anywhere i can get instructions on how to do it? I'd prefer to format the whole drive and start over, I've used system restore before and it didn't work.

Please, Anyone

Thanks.

Got the same trouble with one of our pc's, hd constantly spinning away. I posted up something i thought was suspicious on here but had no replies.

I was considering do a hijackthis thread and seeing if that helped. Might be worth a go for you before formating.

Trend Micro HouseCall - Free Online Virus and Spyware Scan - Trend Micro USA

Give that go.. see if you find anything..

I would probably go with deleting the partition and starting completely a fresh !

Its simple enough.. the only possible issue would be drivers for your devices.. I.E sound card.. graphics card, printers etc..

What version of windows are you planning to install?

I was going to re-install XP from the system disks supplied with the computer?
