Wink Media streaming xbox 360 (again)

Well the Belkin router has a new home, and it streams audio to my xbox

I have to use windows media centre edition to do it though.

however, when i try windows media player under XP pro, it sees the xbox, but will not connect

I tried the wifes lappy, to see if that would work, that wont even see the xbox using windows media player

Any ideas why media centre works but the other variants dont? And if I

dump my XP pro partition and go to WMCE what functions of pro do
I lose

AFAIK Divx is only native to 360, not streamed, thats where transcode and i believe there's another similar program available that does similar.

christ. the 360 if updated via live will play divx and xvid. I've been watching 24 tonight streamed from my PC. just go to the media blade and select video then access the shared files on your pc and play. you may need to download the video codec on first play from the 360 but that's it then. works great.

try google chaps...

Media centre extender eg a 360 won't do divx via the Media centre interface. Divx only from the media blade then looking for the PC.

MCE or Vista needs an update before DIVX will stream to an extender.

And therein lies the problem...

for some bizzare reason, the 360 will not see any computer supposedly attached to the xbox

it finds it via media centre, and odd proggys find it media player. zune on the odd occasion. but neither will handshake with each other.

been down all the settings route, even had the bloody router sitting next to the xbox....nada..zip
