Iv'e had my xbox back 10 days from being repaired and the same things happened again.
When will microsoft cure this problem they are having with these consoles it must be costing them a small fortune.

One of mine died the other day too so I put the details in to get it repaired online. Do they send you a box or should I just box it up and phone UPS to collect it?

It was fine until I swapped from horizontal to vertical - after about 4 weeks, the dreaded 3 red lights appeared.

 

Call them, make sure you get through to a supervisor and tell them what's happened.

My mates 360 (I put it online cos he's hopeless) went **** up twice, second time lasted less than a few days, so with a well constructed argument I told them it wasn't good enough, so they sent him (me) a brand new 360 with a HDMI port, obviously me being the good friend gave him my old launch day console and pocketed his HDMI console.

Be firm, be polite and make sure you speak to a supervisor and don't accept a free game or free xbox live access.

 

Just phone microsoft on 08005 871102, they will ask you a few questions and get it booked in.
UPS will bring the stickers to stick on the box.You must box it yourself within a couple of days of speaking to microsoft they do collect quite quickly,do not use your original xbox box to box it up.

 

I've just been given a dead xbox. It died just before xmas so they bought a new one and have given me the dead one. Its 3 red lights.

Its 12 months old. Can I use the above microsoft number and get it repaired?

Yes thats number to microsoft customer services mate. You will have to have the details of who purchased it from new to get it repaired under warranty as my old xbox was bought of a my mate and they wanted all his details,name,address,email.Got them and there was no problems.

 

wrap it in a towel, turn it upside down and leave it on for 30 mins.

not tried it myself, but apparently the heat fixes porous solder connections (or something) - worth a go and i know at least 2 xboxes have been fixed this way.
There might be some stuff on the web regarding this process.
