connecting to xbox live
OK I really need someones help here.
Got my 360 in my room and got my PC, that gets its broadband signal from a USB antena to my router downstairs, tried plugging my xbox into my PC's network card and bridging the connection. All looked ok, xbox picked up that it was connected but couldnt get an IP address.
So today I plugged it in downstairs on the big HD telly (very impressive), plugged it straight into the ethernet cable coming out of the modem, but once again xbox can see its connected but still no IP address.
So am I doing somethign wrong?? I left the xbox on automatic settings?? Or am I going to have to spend another £50 getting a wireless adaptor??
Cheers people

iirc you need a different cable to do normal networking compared with internet connection sharing (crossover cable?)
maybe you are usieng the wrong cable for the job?
360 straight into the router should work no worries at all!!!

To plug it in to the pc you need to set the settings for networking so it can connect to the net from your pc
Open start menu > connect to > show all conections > open the one the xbox is on click internet protocal then click the properties tab is there an ip address in there if not try adding 192.168.0.10 and for the subnet mask 255.255.255.0 then on your xbox set to obtain ip auto. close that and open your pc internet connetion rick click it for properties then open the advanced tab and tick allow other network users to connect through this computers internet connection all 3 of mine are ticked then click the settings button and tick them all that should get you online
