We have an Epson Stylus 870 photo we paid about £130.00 for it it's a great all round printer, and prints photos well to.
You can have it set on fast mode of fine mode it also has a cartridge check facility through the pc.
I think it has been replaced by a newer model now.

I've had a HP DJ970cxi for a while - top piece of kit. Just been looking at it's been discontinued, so the DJ960 for £115+VAT from Dabs looks like a good buy to me.

TBH, there's not a lot to choose between the HPs and Epsons these day. I always stick to HP but that's just me.

I'm also an HP Junky, I have two of them

The main thing to ask is "can the print-head be replaced easily?" this is not a problem with the HP range as evey new cartridge has a new print-head attached.

I just bought an Epson 875 Photo stylus. It's blimin' marvellous - quality of prints on photo paper is on par with real photos. You don't even need a computer - can just put your compact flash (or other) card in the printer, choose what pics u want, and off u go. Bought of the net for £173. And it's A4 full edge to edge printing.

I'm pretty happy with my Epson 860. The only problem is the official inkjet cartridges for all printers nowerdays are completely over the top, pricewise.
