Question CD R/W replacement drives

My CD R/W Rom Drive is sticking .... its tray doesn't come out without me tapping the front of it!

Now, my PC is about 5 years old and does everything I want ..... I have just done a search on E-Buyer and these drives are about £5!!

Which is great, but - the reports on them are about 4 years old and some have trouble being recognised by the OS.

I have XP - may I have a problem with XP recognising a CD R/W Rom Drive which may be old??

Yep DVD R/W is the way to go. My mate picked up the latest model of Pioneer DVD burner from Overclockers for £18. XP sees these without any configuration.
