formatting a laptop

i am gonna sell my old rusty laptop soon, but i wanna get rid of my own data in it, is there a way to completely clean it, BUT leaving the O/S in it

CCleaner will get rid of a lot of crap.

But really, you want to format it, Zero it and re-install from restore/system disc.

not too sure if i still got those discs, the laptop was bought in late 90s.
