Default COD4, just bought it and am mortified!!!

Bought this today as everyone was raving about it. Me and my girlfriend are BIG GRAW1&2 fans and were tempted by the new modern warfare armour.

But no splitscreen online play? Is this right or have we chosen the wrong game type? Please tell me this game has splitscreen online play!!!

That sucks! For me, it has totally ruined what could have been a great game. Guess GRAW2 wont be leaving the xbox for a while longer.

Call of Duty though has never had split screen multiplayer as it is just a FPS whereas GRAW is more tactical.
What spoilt it for me is it being about 5 hours long.

Eh? Who buys a game an *expects* it to have split screen multi-player ?!

Perhaps a little bit of research next time ?

Its pretty standard on 360. Halo3, GoW, Graw etc etc etc all have split screen multiplayer locally as well as on Live.

i dont know how you can play on split screen.....

need to fully submerge myself into FPS.

i think COD 4 is very, very good and exceptional value for money, when you appreciate how much work has gone into it.

best £40 i've spent this year, by far!!!

Works fine on a big enough screen, espcially Halo3 - I mean if you are playing team slayer or doubles it works really well.

Superb graphics, does feel like you are part of the action and is enjoyable, but very much on rails. Pretty much an interactive movie IMO.

Best FPS I've played in ages...

only gripe with it was that the opening intro movie gave away a big chunk of the plot...

oh and does any of the dialogue NOT come from Aliens? "I like to keep this handy - for close encounters..." & "Stay frosty people..." etc etc

Very short though, admitedly playedf first time on regular but bought Saturday afternoon around 4pm and finished by lunchtime today, no marathon playing sessions either maybe a couple of hours a day. Bit disappointing but good fun with interesting levels, gunship is fun and th ghillles in the mist or whatever I enjoyed.

Hmm, played it and finished it in about 5 hours (although on normal, not hard). Wasn't impressed. Nice graphics but decidedly average story, dialog ripped straight from Aliens, on-rails gameplay, and pretty bad AI

Playing it on veteran does seem to up the ante with AI, but tbh how many FPSs give you full freedom of the area, and it is heavily biased towards online play.

Fed up with online play in these games. Too many foul mouthed youths and cheats for my liking. I just tend to play the single player modes these days, (which is why I enjoyed Bioshock so much).

That's the problem though, now because of broadband and various Live formats, they tend to forget the single player.

2 of my fave games on the 360,Bioshock and Oblivion, were great single player games but i'm sure wouldn't be as good online and Mass effect is shaping up to be another.
