If I remember correctly, when I installed XP into VPC2007, I did it from an iso image. Started the VM, then went to CD, "Capture ISO image".

To boot from a cd you should just need to specify using a hardware drive instead. Are you sure that your cd is bootable?

From what I remember the NTLDR message isn't normal if it can't find any media to boot from. What CD are you booting from?

To boot from CD you normally just start the VM and choose Use Physical Drive from the CD menu. If that doesn't work straight away then just reset/reboot the VM and it should pick the CD up and attempt to boot from it.

You can also hit the delete key quickly to go in to the BIOS and check that the CDROM drive is specified correctly and modify the boot order if you want.

Yup, that works for me normally. Or if it refuses, probably quicker to ISO capture the CD and point VPC at it ? Often the roundabout solutions are quicker !
