I think there's something there blocking, get that comodo firewall to hell, uninstall, have you had a look at the netgear settings?, might be something in there going on, or worst case , format the hard drive, fresh install of xp, dont load in any crap after fresh install , try getting the xbox connected 1st(I would go fresh install 1st, then if it still doesnt work, then your know its something going on with the router or settings within.)

ROuter reset & reinstalled, firewall turned off.
xbox set up, finds live, and f*ck all on media sharing
arghhhhhhhhh
THATS it
One x box & dongle going binwards
Seriously folks what the f*ck is going on,
the lappy (wireless) sits not more than 3 feet from the x box, can access the net faultlessly, the xbox can access live with no probs,
but neither the lappy or the main PC can stream to the x box,
all settings are as they should be
so why the problems?
i thought the xbox was the pinnacle of integration into a network?
at the moment its a usless pile of junk
(cant you tell i,m not very happy )

Well ive hjust wasted another half hour going through the pointless excesize thats called portforwarding (ha bloody ha)
and yet again f*ck all response from the xbox.
oh and just to really get arsey why cant manufacturesrs supply there products name when sending out connection data to a router.
who cares if its mac address is xx xx xx xx xx xx tell me its name ffs then at least i know what it is that i,m allowing access to my network,
sometimes people who design and build these things, need to spend some time in the real world
mart
still p*ssed of and fed up

I really feel sorry for you mate
I have a setup that's that same as yours:
Elite/Microsoft wireless/XP SP2 PC/Netgear DG???
My PC found the 360 first time and all I needed to do was click allow in the WMP11 sharing section. The same Elite is setup via my Vista PC to connect to media centre.
I'm using Macfee on the XP and AVG on the Vista machine.
your experiance seems the same as a guy at my work that just couldn't get his 360 to see a PC either and he just gave up in the end.
sorry I can't be of any help
I'll let you win at gotham if it makes you feel better
Craig.

Just when you think youve cracked it it stick two fingers up at you and dumps you back to square one..
i called MS support and got nowhere, suffice to say my router is a ppanrantly not compatible (netgear)
I set up ports on the router & firewall, and tried again..
nothing,
so i set the xbox up under a fixed IP address
and it found it mind you it gives it a moderate NAT
Zune & media centre found the xbox, and the xbox found the pc
Success at last ????
Nope, it still wouldnt connect. it said the firewall was blocking the setup.
strange....
so i uninstalled zune & media centre
reinstalled WMC, and i,m back to square one
so ive reinstalled zune
and still nothing...
by now ive had enough,
i think i,ll just stick to live, and sod the media sharing
