Question I upgraded my BB package but what does all this mean?

Hi,

I recently upgraded to 'Up to 8 meg BB' and being out in the sticks I don't expect lightening quick but it still seems a little slow. I had 512 before and there hasn't been much pick up from then.
I have spoken to many, many people across in India and none of them are making much sense to me so can anyone shed any light on these speedtest results they keep making me do please?

Paul.

your getting 4.8 meg download with 0.5 meg upload

yep as above.

Bt call centres are the worst.

For further increases in speed i'd look to removing a couple of wires from your phone socket. worked amazingly for my speeds.

Slight correction guys.

His IP profile (BRAS) is 4megs. His sync rate with the exchange is 4.8megs.

Actual speed on the test was 3.6megs ~ 455KB/s max. Upload will be 48KB/s.

If you're getting much slower speeds than this on dloads from fast sites, then as said it could be numerous things causing it to slow down. If your noise margin fluctuates this will affect your dload speeds for example.
