Default XBOX 360 & INTERNET QUESTION???

My internet provider is Virgin and I increased my bandwidth recently because the computer gets alot of use.

I got an XBOX 360 on Saturday and bought an Ethernet cable to run from my modem to the XBOX and it connected fine, however when I'm connected to XBOX Live I cannot use my PC to browse the internet, it just comes up saying problem loading the page etc????

I can't understand why I can't run both the PC and XBOX from the same modem at the same time???

Anybody had any similar problems or can they shed any light as to what may be causing this?

It's very frustrating having to disconnect one to use the other etc.

Thanks

Dave

Are you connecting the modem to the computer using the usb cable? If so, you will have a problem as you can't use the usb and ethernet at the same time. Sounds like you need to get yourself a router...

I did it with my kids machine with Xbox live before I sorted them out with a router.

Phone line>Modem>USB>Computer>Ethernet>Cat5 cable(crossover)>Xbox

Set the connection to have ICS (allow other computers to use this connection)

Job done.

THe only thoing that is a bit flaky through ICS is that if you come off of Xbox live, and then decide to go on again, you will need to reboot the PC and then the XBox to get back on to Live - However, normal surfing should work fine.
