EA Skate
So, I got my xbox back yesterday, and decided to download the demo of Skate off the marketplace.
Wow - Colour me impressed. The control system is really intuative - Far more so than Tony Hawks. It does for Skateboarding what Fight Night did for boxing with its twin stick control. It makes you feel like you are in absolute control of what is going on.
Do yourself favour and download it and play around.
Almost certainly pre-ordered

I downloaded, played it for about 5 minutes, got fed up, and deleted it. Perhaps I should download it again and give it a closer look

I did all the proving ground mission thingies yesterday - Well, until I ran out of time - But I also spent ages just pulling manuals and then flipping up onto grind rails etc. It's a real chill out game - I love the way the camera zooms into the skate board when you are doing little flip trick and shove-its etc.
This is to to Tony Hawks as Half Life is to Doom - It really is a leap forward.
This made up for the abortion of a demo I also downloaded last night - Stranglehold - Good god. it's awful, and I had high hopes for it

Sorry Dunk, no I meant I went through all the training things on Skate. I haven't downloaded THPG.
Unless they have fundametally changed the control scheme I don't think it can compete for my attention. I got bored of the TH games a while back.
Still, I'm open minded, I'll give it a go over the weekend.

Surprised there has not been more talk about this game / demo.
Played it last night and was really blown away by the control system, presentation style and just the amazing sense of fluidity and the look and feel of real skateboarding right down to the detail of how the front foot moves in the air and then tips the board forward when doing an Ollie.
Cab slides are so wonderfully simple and stylish just like they are in real life.
I have totally lost interest in Tony Hawk's, just like I had lost interest in fighting games before fight night 360. Well done EA!

Just need to decide whether to go for PS3 or 360 now.
