My brother has a Mac and I have a PC - we're keen to play any multi-player games which act cross platform - are there any?

e.g. anything from chess to BF1942, war sims etc

 

What type of Mac does he have? If It's an intel based Mac then I'd suggest using BootCamp to install XP on the machine, this will allow him to boot into XP and thus you will be able to use the same version of the game as you're both using a Windows operating system.

BF 1942 is certainly availble for the Mac, have a look here, where you can download a demo and see how well it runs (or not), on the Mac.

You may also want to check out the Games directory on Apple's site here to see if anything there appeals.

 

it's a very recent (presumably Intel) based machine, but he's not tech-literate enough to be able to install XP. Am I seeking something that doesn't exist? (i.e. I'm naively wondering if there's a game that can communicate via the web and is platform agnostic).

Look like some good games on that Apple site - command and conquer would do it!
