Dell Inspiron 6400 falls into your price bracket : Pentium Dual Core 1.83Ghz, 1Gb RAM, 120Gb hard drive, DVD/RW drive, built-in wireless, 1280x800 widescreen. The only thing that really lets it down is the onboard shared graphics, but this won't matter unless you're using it for games.

I went for the Advent 7204.

Build quality ain't the best but the processor is good.
Screen OK
Wireless
17 inch screen
Vista but not had too many problems yet.

Overall 8/10
