http://www.php.net

PHP is a server-side, cross-platform, HTML embedded scripting language.

Perl is a proper interpreted language though, please don't put it in the same basket as PHP or, God forbid, ASP

Red face

`Oh my God,` I wished I`d never asked now.
I asked `him upstairs`(no, not god...Peter)and he came out with all the big talk like you guys. I think I`ll just tell him what I want and get him to do all the sorting out.
Thanks for all your answers, but I thought it would be too hi-tech for me.
Joan.

David,

No, I just wondered since Perl on Win32 is non-native and not as powerful because of the OS 'restriction'. I'm far too old and experienced to have 'language wars'

Good. You should see the "discussions" that C# is causing where I work...

Question

Sorry to bore you all what is going to be obvious to you all, but not to me I`m afraid?
What is `PHP`?
And what does it do?
What is it for when setting up your own chat Site?
I know I should ask you know who but I wont get a straight answer.

Thanks.
Joan.

Perl is like smoking. Lots of people do it. They're all trying to give it up.

Strike a nerve? I write both JSP/J2EE/Unix/Oracle and ASP/COM+/2000/SQL Server, not to mention loads of other crap as well... (including Perl )

I guess I object to having to read programs that look like this.
Some common Perl myths.
