Looking at a new PC, seen this on the bay...Clicky
Gonna be using it mainly for surfing, email etc but do do a fair amount of photo editing (Nikon and PSP software mainly), not really intending to use it for gaming as I have a PS3 and 360, but want to be able to if I fancy it
Is the 8500GT graphics card gonna be a problem? Have a 6600GT in my system now and it's been pretty good but don't want the 8500 to be a bottleneck as the rest of the components seem pretty good. I use a 20" wide 1680x1050 if that makes any difference.
Any thoughts
Dave

It wil be rubbish for all modern 3D game i'm afraid.
It's only a 128 bit interface for a start, 800mhz clock and 400mhz ramdac. But then it's only a £35 card so that's to be expected.
Aria do a ATi 1950 pro with 512mb ram for £54.99 on their superspecials and will blow it away exponentially

Thanks for that mate, any idea what the above system would be like with a decent card, basically is the rest of the system any good or should I start a fresh
Cheers
Dave

The seller is trying to make a fast buck just like everyone else.
The processor is worth £170 inc vat
The motherboard is a cut down asus Micro ATX with not much expansion potential - i.e. single graphics card, inbuilt sound etc. Worth about £45
Graphics card - £35
Case and PSU - £35-£40
500gb hard drive £60
4gb of cheap and nasty brand ram - £80
Lite-on burner £16 inc vat
No operating system.
So in total - the cost to build yourself with identical components = £441 inc free delivery of components.
So if you can get it built and delivered for that, then its a cracking deal.
If it goes for near £600 - forget it, that would get you an decent graphics car, branded heatsinked ram and a proper overclockable motherboard.

You will have to get a 'properly overclockable' heatsink and decent case ventilation too if you overclock a Q6600 on air as they literally belch out heat. For most folks Q6600's are plenty quick in stock form
