Default Excel help

Hello

I have Excel file with a load of sheets in it. They are basically artist, title and disc name for a load of music DVDs I have.

I want to be able to have a search facility so that it will search all the sheets and give a report of matching text, i.e. if i search for Coldplay and its on 3 different sheets, I want to get the result of all 3 entries.

Does anyone have any ideas of how I could do it ? I dont know Excel that well (at least not VB anyway) !!!

How about ditching excel and use the excellent movie and mp3 collector apps from collectorz.com Although for mp3s and dvd's you can use the apps for other files to.

Let me explain a bit more. I do alot of DJinfg and more recently VJing. I get DVDs with 70s, 80s, 90s, etc, and monthly releases of music videos, so they have a tracklist similar to something like Now 67.

Due to the lead in time of the DVDs and the length of the tracks you have to find the next song quickly and get it cued up so, knowing which disk the track is on is very helpful.

I have typed the artist, title and DVD name (e.g. 70s Hits Vol 2 Disc 1) into a load of sheets with 3 columns. I want to be able to search for artist or title as a free text string and report on the entry in the sheet I have typed (shown as artist, title, disc name). Its not for "normal" music DVDs.....

Well you can either sue a ready made program, or if you're a bit technical, you could import everything in Microsoft Access and use the wizard to build the report you want.

I havent got excel on this machine so I havent tested this but if you click on the first sheet, hold shift and select your last sheet. It groups all the sheets. You can then CTRL F and find all

There's a program called cdcatalog which would probably suit your needs.
