Weird RAM issue - Help!
I recently fitted a second stick of 1GB RAM to my PC. Since doing so, it seems to have actually slowed down - is this possible?
I have an Asus P5B motherboard, a Core2Duo E6300 processor and 2GB of DDR2 RAM (both exactly the same make/model).
I have noticed this in particular when running Cinema Craft Encoder (a memory-intensive DVD encoder) as it seems to be running at about 2/3 of the speed it was when I only had 1GB of RAM.
Any ideas anyone?!

Check virtual memory settings, windows may be allocating a larger swap file on your harddrive, if your drive is slow or needs defragging this could be causing the slow down?
You could try turning off the virtual mem settings.

Which slot did you put the new memory in?
If you've put them immediately side by side, it won't perform as well as if you'd put them in to use dual channel memory.
Just a thought.
John.

Yep. Sounds like you have not got the memory in Dual-Channel Mode. Check the BIOS to see if it's enabled. Also that it's the same colour coded slot as the other DIMM.
