Default Network issues

Hey All

When I connect my router to the laptop via network cable everything is fine (as I am aware, no install disk was needed when I installed the modem)..... however when i unplug it and connect it to my desktop the network connections function recognises it as a comp-2-comp connection.....

Is it simply a case of me needed to obtain an install disk for the router?

Cheers
Ian
