Default Help needed setting up router

Just bought myself a wireless router and am struggling to set it up.

Tiscali is my ISP, I have all the IP addresses and DNS that I need, but I am not getting the dialog box to log in when i enter an ip address into my browser window?

Anyone offer any help please.

what router is it?

Connect the router to the pc with network cable

restart PC

::. Kitz - Get your adsl line stats .::

thats to do with line stats but gives you the IP addresses to access the homepage of the router, just pick the router you have and look at the IP

Unless the ISP offers a static IP there is no need to have IP or DNS entered in the router, there shouldnt be a log in, the router should hold the username and password for you and your always online.

dave,

routers and isp's can behave differently

if your router address is 192.168.1.1 or similar, then your pc should be set to the same Ip range.
ie: something like 192.168.1.10 (the last digit/node must be different)

never assume that a router will give you an ip addres straight out the box.

if the router ip address is as above then make that the defaut gateway on the pc as well. that way the gateway to the internet will be the router.

then you should be able to put the ip of the router in the browser and connect to it.

any probs, drop me a pm and i'll call you.
