64bit processors run on win32 fine it just means you are not getting the full potential.

I went from a P4 2.4 to an X2 4200 and there was a considerable performance improvement. Like you say, the only way to utilise the 64-bit addressing is to use a 64-bit operating system and applications. There are very few bits of software which properly utilise dual cores as yet.

Default More !

Needs DDR2 at 800 Mhz to use CPU fully,
I went for a 6000 (3 Ghz) at £150 but doesn't like to overclock .

My old 4200+ went up to 3 Ghz no problem and are so cheap now....

P.S. beware low performance graphics cards with Vista, but only needed for games, I'm not that bothered.

Dunx.

My work just payed £399 for a Dell PC with the same Athlon X2 processor, 2GB Ram, flatscreen monitor, etc... Great price really.

Its amazing what £399 can buy you these days.

And I remember paying £1,495 for my i486 DX2 50Hz, 16MB Ram and Tseng Labs SVGA card. Not to mention my Roland LAPC-1 sound card (essential for Sierra games like Codename IceMan)
