Default 360 elite in Autumn, £300

Xbox 360 Elite this autumn? > www.mcvuk.com

Still think it's too expensive given it still doesn't include the HDDVD player, you have to imagine the PS3 will be coming down closer to that price for xmas 07...

An HDMI cable has been confirmed for the regular 360 - not an official cable but if 3rd party leads are going to be widely available then MS are probably going to jump on the bandwagon too at some point - may announce one at E3.

Any word on when the 120gb HDD is going to be available?

Saw a thread on engadget about a bloke who craftet a carbon fibre controller - now if a carbon fibre 360 or PS3 became available...

Can see Sony dropping the price of the PS3, but not as far down as £300 - I think about £349 is about as low as it as we can expect. Just wish they'd pull their finger out and get the rumble-enabled sixaxis out the door.

Seems a reasonable price considering you're not forced to buy that version

If you really want HDMI (HDMI cable included ) and 120Gb HDD then its a fair premium to pay over the cost of the . . er . . premium.

Price aint bad. Remember the current RRP of the Premium is £280 so only £20 more and you get the 120Gb HD. Of course the price of the Premium will drop but you can get one now for £220 so sure there will be some Elite deals to follow.

Really ? I was under the impression that ANA doesn't output digitally (just HANA). So it would have to convert analogue output to a digital signal, which seems a bit pointless.

he only other major change under the bonnet is the new HANA video display chip, replacing the old ANA version in the classic 360. This chip has erroneously been described as the silicon that deals with the 360's inbuilt hardware scaling. In truth, Microsoft has now confirmed to us that it's merely a video output chip - a means of transferring the framebuffer into all of the different signals: composite, s-video, RGB SCART, component, VGA and - the key addition with HANA - HDMI. Scaling itself is actually performed by the Xenos GPU (most likely using a variation of Lanczos resizing) so in that respect the Elite performs identically to the original Xbox 360. The presence of HANA confirms that there will be no aftermarket HDMI solution for the current model.

I guess it would free up component/VGA sockets, so may be of use to some.
