Plesk - MySQL Upgrade
Hi,
having a right problem upgrading MySQL 3.2 to at least v4 via Webfusion and my Virtual Linux Server.
I'm completely in the dark about Linux but have tried to pick it up somewhat.
Can some kind soul do the bizzo for me? or even point me in the right direction?
I've tried 'Yum' but not too sure with how to install it once I've got it on my server.
Looking to install some blogging software and it won't work with 3.2
cheers

It may not be straightforward. From 3.2 to 4 is a major revision. You'll need to:
1. dump the existing databases with mysql_dump
2. Install v4 with Yum (this ought to do it all for you, but I don't know of any config file issues between 3.2 and 4. It's a major revision, so there might be issues)
3. Post-config the new v4 install, make sure it all starts on boot, mysql user permissions are all ok etc (Yum should take care of that too)
4. Restore the databases from v3.2
Step 4 might also cause issues if there are any big differences in how 3.2 dumps versus v4 restoration. It isn't a small job really. This might also help,
