Epson RX420 Scanner Driver OS X
As per the title, I need help guys!
I have the above printer and installed panther on my g4 powerbook over the weekend. Been on and around the epson site for ages and whilst I can download the printer driver I cannot for the life of me find the epson scan software download. I know it exists because I had it running on Jaguar and I originally installed it off the CD that came with the printer (which I can no longer find!)
Cheers
Gary

Do you have the Epson drivers installed from the OS X install? If so then try going into the Applications folder and running the Image Capture application and see if that picks up the scanner.
This hint from macosxhints might be worth a read as well. It details how to use an unsupported Epson scanner with Image Capture. The former link to macintouch mentioned Tiger, and it's possible the driver was new to Tiger and not in Panther (just checking my 10.3.9 install to see if I have it listed)

A little more for you. Just looked in /Library/Image Capture/Devices/EPSON Scanner/Contents/Resources/ and there is a file called "RX420.icns" which is an icon file. The name would seem to indicate this device should be supported natively by Image Capture. This is on 10.4.9 Intel though, and looking in the same place on 10.3.9 does not display that file, but this might be due to me not having installed Epson printers on 10.3.9, so it's worth checking that location anyway, plus the macosxhint might work for you

Markus,
Some great info there, I ploughed (carefully) through the macosxhints article but still cant get image capture to see the rx420. Found scanner drivers for rx500 and rx600 but still nothing for rx420! Unbelievable why epson have them tucked away, been on the web for four hours looking!
