Question FU*KING fuming - 360 red "circle of death"

Well, that's just ****** great

Turned on the 360 to download Forza2.

System says that it wants to update - I tell it to proceed.

Finishes the update.......

And the 3 red leds (Circle of death) appear

Is this fixable without returning back to Microshaft? (at some great expense no doubt! )

Any suggestions (no, I'm not going to buy a PS3 instead!)

Utter POS

Just been in touch with Micro$haft

£85 to repair the Xbox - quite convenient that the error occurs whilst downloading THEIR update

The only consolation is that the £85 will include another 1yr warrantee.

Not happy

What galls me more is that I'm going to have to pay for something that was Micro$haft's fault in the first place I only turned the machine on to download the update

If I can get it posted tomorrow, that would be good. Might get it back some time next week hopefully.

Oh well - will have to use the Wii instead!

Guy from work had his back in 6 days which isn't a bad turnaround.

Have to say having to spell my name and address 3 times, email address countless times and repeat the serial number twice to a lady at m$, is something i don't want to do again in a long time.

Damn them microsoft call centres!!

That's expensive for 1 years additional warranty!!
Mine is a launch day console and I purchased an extended warranty on the 1st of December last year and this gave me TWO additional years for £58 all in.I'd be challenging them on that price they've quoted you (But I'm guessing they've inflated it because you've phoned them with a failed 360 and no warranty)

Good luck

Where and how did you pay for this? I got a leaflet thing when I bought the 360 to extend the warranty but it said its only valid for 10 days after the purchase? mine is out of warranty in a few months so would like to get the additional 2 years..

Makes no difference. I sent the warranty form off for my launch day machine about a week before the 12 months was up and still got my warranty docs

THe sun rises in the east.
Water is wet
A launch day 360 is bound to break..

Really MS should be held to account for the absolutely dismal build quality of the 360. Specifically launch day machines. If you look around on forums, you will find that there are thousands that have been sent back. On RLLMUK there is a 90 page thread on 360 problems.

MS Deny there is anything out of the ordinary with regards to return rates of the 360 (so they said on watchdog) but the problem is getting worse and worse.

Mine went back on Wendesday - If it breaks again i shall be getting it repaired under warranty and then trading it in for a PS3.

My local Game store doesn't even stock them yet. Backed all my game saves and profiles up so well worth £35 to avoid starting again.
I think this is what I'll do. Couldn't face going through TDU again (even though it's a cracking game!)
