it should detect you don't have the plug-in and ask you to install it ?

It works for me, BUT it is a large flash object. You should put some text on there with "Flash Download" or something ..

You can't rely on that working, some places don't let you install plugins

steve, it auto-detects if you have the flash plugin and tells you in html where to get it

you mean provide and html version of the site - because some places won't let you install the plugin?

I cant see why that shouldn't be an HTML site!
Any reason its all flash or is it a case of having a new toy

yes smart ar$e - its a replica of a brochure they've had done - photo's and text all keep aspect ratio regardless of user's screen-res!!

Flash was chosen for its ability to dynamically resize photos and text, keeping it faithful to the brochure - or else I avoid Flash like the plague

Well I'd have done the whole thing in HTML and CSS. You can do text replacement tricks with flash that fallback when it's not installed.

*throws gauntlet on the floor*

I don't believe you can do that exact website with HTML & CSS - its based on a strict brochure layout, and the photos and text need to be dynamically resized (and anti-aliased) based on the full browser width and height.

Seriously how many sites do you see that actually do that?
It isn't a brochure, it's a website

I completely agree - I did an HTML mock-up site first, but he was ADAMANT he wanted a replica of the brochure in every sense.
