DVD writer??????????
Never had much to do with DVD's but due to the amount of info on my pc i want to backup i thought i might get a writer.
This one is just a cheap one and will do the job i guess. Is there anything i need to be looking for when buying one of these?
Cheers

The LG superdrive does a lot for the money, but the ACTUAL writing speed can't compete with the pioneer. Try timing them to burn identical DVD's side by side

Buy the 112 but not the "D" edition as it doesn't support ram disks
DVD+ and - were like VHS and Betamax, but all modern drives support both formats. DVD-R seem to be more compatible with console backups "apparently". Also they all support dual layer, which is pretty much as described and has double the capacity for the same physical size of disc but with two layers instead of one. Also dual layer are far more expensive and take 10 minutes to burn at full speed.
The pioneer has firmware updates regularly to allow the drives to support more discs and dyes and are available along with the instructions on pioneers main site.
Hope that is some help without me getting to technical.
