Broadband isp UK: Uncapped £9.95 8Mb Award winning Wireless ADSL from NewNet plc fast access Internet

those may be a better bet

best to use a router as well, wired is best for games

Broadbandbuyer.co.uk | NETGEAR DG834G v3 Wireless-G ADSL2+ Router

installed loads of these for people and have had no probs at all with them

Apparently Xbox Live gaming uses on average 30Mb per hour, so very little really. Marketplace downloads are small too, its demos and videos that could eat into a small download allowance very fast.

for just playing games a 512k connection would be ample, downloading would of course be quicker in theory on a faster connection

I was on 512k too and recently upped to 3mb and it makes no difference to gameplay.

Only limitations are when the game uses 1 player as a host, the upload speed limits how many players you can have in the room - too many people in and some will be booted out - the 2 GRAW titles & Rainbow 6 Vegas seem to be the worst.

I'll probably just tell him to go for something like upto 8Mb speed with perhaps a 5Gb limit
