Is finally out!
Now I've been waiting for so long for this game I'd forgotten all about it.
Has anyone took the plunge and got it? If so what's it like?
Matt

Been playing it for a while, very immersive, stunning graphics (almost film quality in parts) you can see the veins behind the skin etc. enjoying it so far, but need to free up some more time to get right into it.

Had a bit of time playing it, gameplay and the graphics so far are superb! But you will need a fairly meaty system to keep the details up. Saying that, runs buttery smooth at full details, with AA and AF enabled on my setup...
X2 4400 @2.4
X1950Pro Turbo 512mb
2gb Ram
...not too shabby for an 'old' AGP rig!
Oh, and because I had mine on preorder with PLAY from it was announced years ago, I was sent the limited edition at no extra cost! £17.99 for a cracking limited tin edition!!

Top Marks from me so far but i would advise putting the game on Veteran straight away as i put it on 'Stalker' level and it seems a little easy... Would i recommend it? YEP, coz there is a serious shortage of good games on the PC at the moment...

I've got a new system to build and haven't bought a FPS game in ages (bit RTS'd out at the moment) and STALKER will be the game to buy.
The term "Stalker" comes from the nickname given to scientists who still work in and around Chernobyl. Read it National Geographic

It is also recommended to apply the patch which fixes quite a few anomalies. Be aware that the patch also clears any saved games so it should be applied early on.

hmmm.... might have to invest. Been waiting for this for a LONG time!!
My PC may not handle it though (Athlon 2.2 Gig/1Gig PC5300 Ram & ATI9700pro)....
Is it coming out on 360?

I'm running on a:
Core2Due E6600
2GB RAM
7900GS 512MB graphics
....and it runs very nicely indeed.
Which bright spark recommended running at 'Stalker' level initially? I've not played much outside of HALO on the Xbox for a while, and I'm still stuck trying to kill people in the "car park" (on my own - I elected to be brave, perhaps stupid!). Stupid little pea-shooter of a gun has no effect against a guy with a flippin' 12 bore!

Seems pretty good, though I have acquired lots of stuff to sell and have a hard job finding anyone to sell it to. Also, are there traders where I can buy other gear like better guns, radiation protection etc?

I was holding out for the DX10 cards also I bought vista which went **** up and made battlefield randomly crash as it didnt like the graphics running anything above medium - and reccomendations on a decent card to get under £200 quid though as my system already stands me at over a grand
