S.T.A.L.K.E.R

Is finally out!
Now I've been waiting for so long for this game I'd forgotten all about it.

Has anyone took the plunge and got it? If so what's it like?

Matt

Been playing it for a while, very immersive, stunning graphics (almost film quality in parts) you can see the veins behind the skin etc. enjoying it so far, but need to free up some more time to get right into it. :)

Neanderthal 30 March 2007 10:25 AM

Ordered, for £17.99 from Play.com it's worth a punt :D

D16GER 30 March 2007 12:53 PM

Had a bit of time playing it, gameplay and the graphics so far are superb! But you will need a fairly meaty system to keep the details up. Saying that, runs buttery smooth at full details, with AA and AF enabled on my setup...

X2 4400 @2.4
X1950Pro Turbo 512mb
2gb Ram

...not too shabby for an 'old' AGP rig! :)

Oh, and because I had mine on preorder with PLAY from it was announced years ago, I was sent the limited edition at no extra cost! £17.99 for a cracking limited tin edition!! :D

AVZ 30 March 2007 12:58 PM

Top Marks from me so far but i would advise putting the game on Veteran straight away as i put it on 'Stalker' level and it seems a little easy... Would i recommend it? YEP, coz there is a serious shortage of good games on the PC at the moment...

EddScott 30 March 2007 01:53 PM

I've got a new system to build and haven't bought a FPS game in ages (bit RTS'd out at the moment) and STALKER will be the game to buy.

The term "Stalker" comes from the nickname given to scientists who still work in and around Chernobyl. Read it National Geographic :)

StickyMicky 30 March 2007 06:17 PM

looks good on the trailer :D

starting to like it, need to work out what the hell I need to do with the trading system.

Don't like the inventory that much, managed to carry about 42 pistols and still run out of ammo on the big guns..

It is also recommended to apply the patch which fixes quite a few anomalies. Be aware that the patch also clears any saved games so it should be applied early on.

hmmm.... might have to invest. Been waiting for this for a LONG time!! :D

My PC may not handle it though (Athlon 2.2 Gig/1Gig PC5300 Ram & ATI9700pro)....

Is it coming out on 360?

Dan :)

scoobyverysoon 02 April 2007 01:02 PM

Whats the minimum specs - my system should be fine but worried about my graphics card

core 2 duo e6600
4gb corsair memory
gforce 7600gt :wonder:

D16GER 02 April 2007 03:56 PM

Minimum specs....

Windows XP SP2 or Win 2k SP4
P4 2ghz or XP 2200+
512mb RAM
10gb HDD space
128mb DX9c Compatible card - Geforce 5700/Radeon 9600
DX9 compatible sound card

Recommended...
Core 2 Duo E6400/ X2 4200+
1gb RAM
256mb DX9c compatible card - Geforce 7900/Radeon X1850

MrShades 02 April 2007 04:02 PM

I'm running on a:

Core2Due E6600
2GB RAM
7900GS 512MB graphics

....and it runs very nicely indeed.

Which bright spark recommended running at 'Stalker' level initially? I've not played much outside of HALO on the Xbox for a while, and I'm still stuck trying to kill people in the "car park" (on my own - I elected to be brave, perhaps stupid!). Stupid little pea-shooter of a gun has no effect against a guy with a flippin' 12 bore!

yeah I started on the skill setting.. it's really annoying when the enemy kills you from miles away and your guns are about as accurate as a B52 bomber .. and also does hardly any damage.

scoobyverysoon 03 April 2007 12:43 AM

Thats good news then Think I will be getting that very soon once I can pull myself away from battlefield 2142 its taking over my life :D

Iwan 03 April 2007 07:02 AM

Seems pretty good, though I have acquired lots of stuff to sell and have a hard job finding anyone to sell it to. Also, are there traders where I can buy other gear like better guns, radiation protection etc?

I was holding out for the DX10 cards also I bought vista which went tits up and made battlefield randomly crash as it didnt like the graphics running anything above medium - and reccomendations on a decent card to get under £200 quid though as my system already stands me at over a grand :brickwall

James Neill 05 April 2007 08:35 PM

Just got this today. It's a bit good!!! I'm kacking my pants at the moment - talk about scary :eek2:
