Default Laptop cutting out

My wifes laptop cuts out/dies from time to time, without warning.

Beyond finding out it happens when running as normal on the mains without the battery attached she's not been able to tell me anymore.

Any idea on where i should start looking?

Ive had two laptops recently give similar probs, I have changed the connector on one as it disintegrated on the board , and managed to resolder the other

Would need more info, but laptops can overheat, if they are on a flat surace without ventilation all the time, this can cause them to shut off to save the CPU. I make sure I don't cover the fan ventilation on the bottom when using mine for a while. Or you could invest in a laptop cooler, around 15 quid, runs on USB.
