Default Problem with image thumbnails

Hi guys and gals.
I have a bit of an image related problem and hoped you may be able to help.
At the weekend I photographed a karting event, and came away with around 4GB of pictures. I brought them home on a portable HDD after first editing them on a friends laptop.
I then transfered the pictures onto my home PC hard drive, and picked out some of the better pictures I wanted to edit further. Only one problem, the thumbnail seen in explorer isn't the right thumbnail for the image! They're totally jumbled up. If I use a prog called Irfanview to create it's own thumbnails, they come out fine. Could this be a problem with the 'thumbs' file that's hidden? And if so, how do i go about fixing it?
I cant actually see the file 'thumbs' even though I have explorer set to show hidden files

Cheers in advance

Ok, I've stumbled across a setting called 'Do not cache thumbnails' and tried un-ticking that. Seems to have worked. Mods can delete this thread if they wish
Cheers for reading anyway

Just another quickie. Is there a way to clear my thumbnail cache? If I set my PC to cache thumbnails again then it reverts back to the old, incorrect thumbnails

Try deleting the thumbs.db files.
