Cool How to upload .asp pages?

My good lady wife is doing some modifications to a website as a favour for someone, but the pages are .asp not .htm or html. Now, we know what the difference is, but when we try to load the pages back, it comes up and says that the server we are uploading to does not support .asp.

Now this is utter tosh, as it works now, but obviously there is something we need to do differently when using .asp files.

Can some talented web developer type person enlighten me please?

what reports the error? The FTP software? or the server when you view the page?

Can you change the suffix to .htm and upload it? Does it complain?

Might have to choose binary upload or something like that. Can't quite remember.

What are you editing the file in?
Make sure you save it in msdos format or some plain text. Not rich text.

Can you open the files OK in wordpad and resave them and ty again.

Cool

OK, I using Frontpage to edit them in, and the FTP bit of frontpage to upload them too.

Frontpage connects to the server and then reports the error, and gives me a choice to continue or not.

Whats the server you are uploading them to? apache (linux) or IIS (windows), most hosts use linux and you wont be able to deploy asp pages on apache.

Cool

The server is Windows based.

RichB - the site is already up, it's just minor adjustments, all the pages are currently something.asp
